Museum of Anatolian Civilisations
The best places in the country to experience Turkey's complex history. On display here are cherry-picked artifacts from virtually every important archaeological site in Anatolia.
Erimtan Archaeology & Arts Museum
Ankara's newest museum houses a large collection of Roman antiquities. Collected by Turkish businessman and archeology enthusiast Yüksel Erimtan. This collection of ceramics and jewelry is unbelievably beautiful, as well as a large coin collection, Kültepe wedge-shaped beads and splendid Urartian belts.
Rahmi M Koç Industrial Museum
The beautiful Rahmi M Koç Industrial Museum is housed inside a beautifully restored caravan building. There are three floors covering topics such as transportation, science, music, computers, Ataturk, and carpets. If you were born before circa 1985, be prepared to feel old because childhood memories like the ZX Spectrum computers and cassette tapes are worth it.
This Seljuk-era mosque is one of Ankara's most beautiful mosques. Inside, dense wooden columns adorned the Roman capital. Intricately carved altars (pulls) and large, beautifully tiled mihrabs.
