Prince's Palace of Monaco
The Sovereign Prince of Monaco's formal home is the Prince's Palace in Monaco. It was erected in 1191 as a Genoese fortification and has been shelled and besieged by several foreign nations throughout its long and often dramatic history. It has been the stronghold and residence of the Grimaldi family since the end of the 13th century, when they first seized it in 1297. When Count F. Gastaldi was mayor, the La Condamine Market opened on November 18, 1880. It was initially refurbished in 1992 to match changes in cuisine and consumer expectations. A comprehensive renovation gave the La Condamine market hall a more regional focus, both in terms of the products sold and the decorating. TSH Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene opened the Nouveau Marché de la Condamine on June 15, 2012, with the warm and cheerful Provençal atmosphere. It is open every day of the year and can accommodate around twenty traders. On Place du Marché, there are also various market gardeners, florists, and small local producers, and the market is divided into three zones.
