Guides / Martin Sauter

I am a professional guide in Berlin. Having experienced the fall of The Wall first hand, I lived abroad between 1994 and 2010, first in London and later in Paris, where I worked at Harrod’s, Saint Laurent, and Chanel. At the age of 40 I went back to studying, gaining an MA (with Distinction) in European Cinema Studies at Bath University. Next, I was being awarded a generous Vice Chancellor’s grant to do a PhD in Film Studies at the prestigious Warwick University. After the successful completion of my PhD dissertation on German-Jewish exile organizations that emerged as a result of the rise to power by the Nazis, I was then offered to contribute to the exhibition “Eichmann on Trial”, organized by Berlin’s Topography of Terror. And so I was back in Berlin, rediscovering the city I’d left so long ago.
