The sole monument honoring the Shkodra victims of the communist government is the Site of Witness and Memory. This museum, which was created in the wake of the Cultural Revolution in 1967 in one of the main hubs of Communist persecution in Albania, tells the tale of those who suffered because of their moral principles and convictions. In the old Dega e Brendshme region, it has been reconstructed (local branches of the Ministry of Interiors).

    Shkoder History Museum

The Historical Museum of Shkodra has been open since 1947, and it was originally called the "Folk Museum," but it was formed with all of its present components in 1949. It was in the heart of the city, in a huge 19th-century edifice, and its significance was enhanced by the nearby Clock Tower. The museum was first built because of gifts of historic Jesuit and Franciscan conference collections.
